"Our relationship isnt one of those lovey-dovey, smooth sailing ones you see in the movies. We had to endure many obstacles along the way in the 13 years that we were together," says Alicia.
And endure them, they did. The couple lived in different parts of the world and therefore, had to be apart for long periods of time. Long distance relationships can be really tough on any couple, no matter how strong their relationship is, and Javier and Alicia weren't any different. It was so tough, in fact, that they had even called it off a couple of times. However, fate had other ideas.
THE BIG DECISION

It was in 2002 when they made the decision to be together. It was a decision that stuck and was made official last year when Javier finally popped the question.
"I'm not sure if Alicia thought she'd ever see the day she would be standing at the altar with a ring on her finger and me beside her," says Javier. "It was so important to me that she has the most beautiful engagement ring i could find. When finally got the perfect ring, i went to her house, knelt down on one knee and asked her to be my wife. Thankfully, she said yes!".
THE CEREMONY

Alicia has her own ring-related story as well. "During the church ceremony, instead of plaocing my ring on my finger, Javier accidentally gave me his ring. Even the priest was grinning! But i giggled too soon because moments later, i placed Javier's ring on the wrong hand! It was pretty embarassing, so i guess that's what makes it unforgettable! " she laughs..
